Jurgen Klopp admits coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains an option. Klopp, after a transformative near-decade reign that included a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, currently occupies positions in a global football capacity for Red Bull and as an advisor for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured the league title last season, but many fans holding him in high esteem would embrace the notion of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach any other side within the country. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine later on, I don’t know. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I can just see how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to tempt his return to management, he confessed he isn't eager for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing under bad weather through long matches; I don’t miss going to press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, yet sharing a meal with the team talking freely, is pleasant. With many victories meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. I still have Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, crediting him due to the changes that took the title last campaign. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the idea of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, superb talent. It’s a really good well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. Jota was killed in a car crash alongside his brother recently.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A profound tragedy for all the boys as well. Not a single person might employ it as an excuse though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Handling this individually is difficult. Impossible.”
