Player's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
