This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.
It might not have been at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a new presidential term.
“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life without fear.”
The gathering, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.
The animal, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.
A Peaceful Retirement
Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.
“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Each year, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”
Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
