Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the killings, public personalities shared varying responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering provocative claims that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they revealed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser could have intervened when the choice to speak on the tragedy was made.
